This LEP* was written and recorded over the course of a winter. Sunburn is from the screen fuckedupedly feeding you documentaries about the rest of the world (ie everything outside of this weirdly beautiful basement) which you can fortunately access through the account of a friend who teaches at a local college enough said. It is also the monstrous gas furnace in the basement of a Montreal apartment where you seek refuge from the elements while conveniently getting some laundry done. Freezerburn apparently isn’t spelled as one word. Both sunburn and freezerburn are also conditions of the heart. We all have one and we all forget about it sometimes. Usually until it develops a condition.
Voici une collection de coquillages. Ils ont parfois la forme d’une trace de botte dans la slotche maintenant gelée d’avant-hier quand il pleuvait en plein milieu de l’hiver, trace que l'on ramasse et que l'on confie avec cérémonie au congélateur plein de compost; parfois la forme d’un coup de soleil dans les yeux, c’est-à-dire un coup d’écran sur la rétine saturée de documentaires; parfois la forme d’un cœur. Le cœur que l’on a tendance d’oublier et de s’émerveiller en le retrouvant grillé sur une toast par un grille-pain qui chante Tchaikovsky mais qui a tendance de brûler les tranches un peu trop souvent. Cette toast stigmatisée d'un cœur doré que l’on refuse de manger par pudeur (?) et que l’on pose sur le rebord de la fenêtre avec les autres coquillages dont on oublie éventuellement la provenance mais pour lesquels on conserve une certaine révérence aveugle.

This is a great EP but the track 'Baby' really stands out. The atmosphere is beautiful. There's a spooky tension in the verse that Helena's vocals perfectly contrast, especially in the bridge and chorus. Such a great example of 'less is more'. Also, the EP's artwork really catches my eye every time I see it.
